The vibrant city of Belfast in Northern Ireland will be hosting the UGI Congress 2021 from the 13 – 15 October 2021.

The UGI Congress took place on behalf of the Association of Upper Gastrointestinal Surgery of Great Britain and Ireland (AUGIS) are holding this joint Upper GI Surgical Congress alongside other UK Surgical Associations, including the Pancreatic Society, GBHIBPA (Great Britain and Ireland Hepato Pancreato Biliary Association), UKIEUS (UK & Ireland Endoscopic Ultrasound Society).


This joint meeting will have a variety of topics, presentations and lectures for delegates to attend for specialists and generalists and will invite abstract submissions for presentation. The three-day programme will offer delegates the opportunity to select the areas of interest for them as well as attend more general plenary sessions to increase learning and to network with colleagues and meet new friends.

Online Registration will be available for Delegates to attend and the UGI 2021 Congress and registration will open in Spring 2021. Updates will be available on this website so check back for more information.

Scientific Programme

The UGI Scientific Programme covers three days and has been awarded a total of 26 CPD points by the Association of Surgeons of Great Britain and Ireland for the whole three days.

When at the Meeting Venue

Delegates will be required to wear a face covering/mask when moving around the building and exhibition area.

Mask and face covering can be removed when delegates are seated.

Please ensure that you wash and dry your hands regularly and use hand sanitiser as required. Please respect the advice from the staff at the Assembly Buildings with regards to the wearing of face masks when within the meeting venue.

By Train:

Great Victoria Station is a 5 min walk from the conference centre.

By Air:

Belfast City Airport is just 3 miles from the venue with good public transport links to the city centre.

Belfast International Airport is 19 miles for the venue, regular airport shuttles and private taxis will take between 20-40 mins to reach the city centre.

By Car:

The Great Northern Car Park is closest to the venue and in an approx. 2 minutes walk.

By Ferry:

A regular ferry service operates a direct ferry from Liverpool to Belfast.
